Summer Rayne Oakes

Добавлен 27 апр 2007
Hi, I'm Summer Rayne Oakes. I started 'Plant One On Me' back in February 2017 to help answer houseplant care questions at my kitchen table with my iPhone 7. Since that time, the RUclips channel has expanded in scope and depth, featuring regular episodes that share the beauty of plants with the people who love them.
Our mission is to bring people closer to plants by bringing plants closer to them through engaging, entertaining, and educational content. You'll see houseplant tips, home tours, plant unboxings, field trips to botanical gardens, and more on this channel.
Starting in 2021, 1% of our Google AdSense revenue goes towards plant conservation initiatives, and we are happy to have been able to support the Cactus Succulent and Specialist Group (via the Desert Garden Society) the first year.

Tour PHIPPS CONSERVATORY in Pittsburgh, PA — Ep. 380
After getting stuck in a nasty spring windstorm, our plane got rerouted to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-where I hadn't been in quite some time, so we made the best of the diversion and decided to film at the very impressive @phippsconservatory.

Can We SAVE This ALOE? - Ep. 373
Просмотров 10 тыс.Месяц назад
Admittedly when I go to a big box store for renovation materials and equipment, I always seem to mosey on over to the garden center to see if I can get a good deal on an interesting plant (or two or three). Well one of the last times I went, I saw this big toothed aloe that caught my eye-but pretty soon after bringing it home-it started to develop a rot that progressed into what you see here. S...

Ten years ago I got to visit the @Biltmore for the first time-and the conservatory in particular left SUCH an impression on me, as I felt it was one of the most beautiful conservatories I had ever laid eyes on. Never got to see this one yet, when I went to pittsburgh I loved the national aviary they have lots of cool plants there too
Enjoyed so much went back many times and replayed again and again .❤❤❤😅 thank you Summer .❤❤
Fabulous. Hopefully one day I could get to see this one myself. Thanks for all of these awesome videos. ❤
In India, Karnataka, Kerala, Goa, juice is extracted from the stem of the flower bunch early in the morning, and sold as Toddy, which is sweet to drink makes you little tipsy, and as the sun rises it gets fermented, that is used rise the batter of apam, sannas, etc which we cook for breakfast.
Dang I wish I knew you were going to be there! I’m 90 miles to the north!
There must be someone out there, who can save these beautiful plants from going to the chipper!
My daughter broke the tallest leaf! It was probably close to 3 feet! Anywho, I've been searching endlessly to try to find out how to save it! When I let it out to dry I set it on a cookie sheet just out in the hallway. Does it need to have sunlight? Is it safe?
Can ants work as pollinators?
Great video.
where can I get the booby pot? Thank you
I lived in Pittsburgh while we went through med school. So exciting to see you highlight Phipps, Summer Rayne!!
Someone sent me one of these by mistake on a pole. I went to the site and the plant was $80.00. Now we have to figure out how to get it to the rightful owner.
I agree with other comments..who needs a guide when we have Summer..last episode I could tell she was more knowledgeable than her guide! Lol..but Summer was very humble and not condescending! Lol Thanks for inviting us along! And thank you Saunder for great work even with guest around!
Another wonderful field trip. ❤
Clivia are very much South African plants, their cousins Hippeastrum are South American.
tmk: emergency is when the plan needs helps, diversion is not an emergency unless something else is going on like going like low fuel so need priority handling. Turblance can be an emergenc y if it results in injury or damages the plane (tho, planes are really tough and rarely damaged by turbulence) :)
Wonderful Tour....Thank You Summer
What a treat! ❤😮
So love your conservatory tours. Thank you.❤
Hi Hwo are you
I love these garden tour videos! If you’re ever in the area, Myriad Botanical Gardens in Oklahoma City is a hidden gem. Beautiful architecture and wonderful, mature rare plants.
How long can u keep them if u don’t use all the amount.
Thank you for the lab presentation Leanne and staff. And Summer you have a really great cook book.
1:30 interesting joke...
thank you
I've been wanting you to tour phipps for years! It's where I first fell in love with plants 💚 what a special video!
Thanks for this. I just retired from 50 years in the interiorscape industry and it was fun to see large specimens of my old "friends "😊
Who needs a conservatory guide when you have Summer Rayne Oakes!
Honestly enjoyed this more. I reallyyyy like the walkthroughs when the guide is truly interested and knowledgeable!!!
She’s so good at communicating.
sebelumnya anda sudah memiliki panen tomat yang melimpah, apakah ada pertimbangan khusus memasang greenhouse?
Truely one of the great conservatories in the USA. ❤
as a pittsburgher, i’ve been waiting for this!!
This was a must need after that plane ride!❤😊
I'm 30 minutes up the Monongahela River! Hope you enjoy the city! My daughter has held a mushroom foraging and cooking class there! (Flannel Roots Farms)
bring back home tours 😭😭😭😭
This was plant therapy for you and us. It's so great to see so many plants in their glory. They bring renewed interest in plants we already have. So many new species discovered!! I’m all starry eyed. Thanks for the tour! Find your enthusiasm and energy infectious! I really enjoy your videos .. thank you for your time and knowledge:) A person that can self-reflect will always find happiness. Your videos are absolutely wonderful!! ! Longer the better!! Thank you!
I went here in December. The orchid room is amazing

2:07 Cyrtosperma Hambalii native to Papua, both Indonesia and New Guinea. Named for the great legacy of Indonesian botanist and horticulturist, Gregory Hambali.
Beautiful! I love everything! 🤗
I have my teddybear plant in very bright light and it grows like crazy. It's very happy
Always love listening in when these two discuss plants! So much enthusiasm and knowledge here ❤
An awesome and comprehensive collection, thank you for featuring them. I just started my own Hoya collection, but only wanted to keep species named after friends and colleagues or people I know. A friend gave me leticiae, espaldonia and blashernaezii today.
To propagate you said cut with two nods, then what? Put in soil or water????
I have been advised against watering using pond water.. I guess it’s fine if it’s a large pond water with regulating flow..
That adansonii variegata in the shower against the tiling backdrop ❤❤❤
Drinks like a Tea just adding lemon and honey...for our rice we just put it top of our rice in a rice cooker makes the rice smells great....
I think the olives need colder temps to induce flowering.
❤
Beautiful collection! Many Philippine Hoyas are based on patronyms of botanists and taxonomists, majority of which are my friends and colleagues, including Dr Domingo Madulid, a famous and prolific Filipino botanist. Artist Cynthia Bauzon made a really nice illustration of Philippine hoya flowers including Hoya madulidii, if you like to see them here is the link.
A very interesting gentleman 😊
